Loretta
Sylvestre grew up barefoot and city-wild in Los Angeles County California, and
now makes her home on the rainy side of Washington State, where stories push
up from the leaf mold at night like mushrooms. She graduated from The Evergreen
State College, with major emphasis on music, mental health, and cultural studies.
She lives with a cat, Boudreau, and earns the money for his food and his hobbies
(such as collecting ponytail holders) by working as a civil servant.
She writes a lot – because she loves it and because she can't seem to
stop. Her stories have appeared in SN Review, Foliate Oak, The Battered
Suitcase, The Linnet's Wings, and now – huzzah – Tales
from the Moonlit Path. She has completed one novel, a YA fantasy entitled
Beyond the Wizard's Threshold, and it will be published (date unknown) by Lilley
Press (www.lilleypress.com).
She loves to read, too, and leaves books in her path like a trail of crumbs. Cherryh, Butcher, Huff, Perry, Francis, Erdrich, Tolkien, L'Engle, Funke, Gaiman, Lovecraft, Brooks, Goethe, Collins, Bradbury, and Hobb, just to name a few authors. New favorites: Jason Rolfe – find his work in The Harrow and in The Willows; Tom Beck – find his work in Liquid Imagination.
Her blog
is called Worlds Well Written (http://www.worldswellwritten.com).
The subtitle of the site is, A Writers and Readers Conversation, and all are
invited to participate.
Her Live Journal page (http://worldsbyloretta.livejournal.com) has a few public posts and more for friends, and there aren't many things she likes better than a new friend.
